S.T.O.K.E.D.

STOKED highlights the best emerging talent in SCVA. 12s, 13s, 14s, 15s, 16s, 17s. As a college coach, if you had scholarships to dole out, you’d probably want to keep tabs here. STOKED is not about the high performance girl’s already acknowledged the best in the game. Here you will find the girls whose developing accountability, responsibility, coach-ability, student mentality, timeliness, work ethic, attendance, dedication, passion, judgement, decision-making, sacrifice, leadership, maturity, volleyball IQ and attitude earn them the right to appear, here – a seat at the STOKED table. They are artists who will become famous before you ever hear their music on the radio. Know what I mean? Every now and then you’ll walk by a match in progress and one player will just grab your attention. It’s the movement. It’s the intensity. From diamond in the rough to accomplished player. The intent is there. These girls are “STOKED.” They’re fun to watch. They will be recruited. As Tstreet’s Troy Tanner says, “Good movement is good movement.” If you have time between matches and you’re milling around an SCVA Division 1, 2 or 3 tournament get STOKED and go see these girl’s play.

Gabi Peoples Class of 2017 - Setter/RS - 2014 Santa Barbara Volleyball Club 16 Blue plays up a year. Gabi and her folks Sam and Darien moved from Oregon 2 years ago and stopped in Santa Barbara to work. Still can't talk them into moving to The OC :)

OH Savvy Simo is also a Libero. Savvy's campaigning up in SCVA 16s this year with her WAVE 15-Brennan team. This is Savvy at Ocean Beach, San Diego in an early season CBVA tournament. Good person :)

I met Darian and Sam, parent's of SBVC's Setter/RS #9 Gabrielle Peoples (Gabi) (4th from left) at SCVA's Qualifier 2. An intense player I'd never seen before her mom said, "we just moved here from Oregon." I had to say, "Jeez! Why'd you stop in Santa Barbara!" Next time you're in SoCal look us up!

I met Darian and Sam, parent’s of SBVC’s Setter/OP #9 Gabrielle Peoples (Gabi) (4th from left) at 2013 SCVA Qualifier 2. Intense (indoor & beach) I’d never seen Gabi before. Mom said, “We just moved here from Oregon.” I said, “Jeez! Why’d you stop in Santa Barbara!” SoCal is the place to be! OK. SB is a great place to live!

(Front row kneeling 2nd from left) OH/DS #5 Maya Maldonado Protege CA 15-Nike. I first saw Maya Maldonado in 2012 on Protégé CA14-Elite. We were playing in Titan Gym at Cal State Fullerton. Sitting with Maya's mom I couldn't help but notice Maya's commanding court presence and passing. Great all around game.
