Every time I watch Tstreet 15-Chris Aerosmith’s notorious “Train Kept A Rollin” comes to mind. There might be a few stops along the way with a 3-game match but the core of last year’s Tstreet 14-Mike team that finished 1st in SCVA and 2nd in the USAV JNC versus Club West 14-National, plus the addition of new team members is on track to prove Tstreet 15-Chris is an even better team. They say the shortest distance between two points is a straight line. But it isn’t. Watching 15-Chris play you’d swear they just fold the paper in half. It’s really fun to watch them play which is why it’s often so difficult to find a space to watch around their court.
Make no mistake, a highly talented Coast VBC 15-1 team met Tstreet 15-Chris in the finals of SCVA’s Mandatory 1. No one was disappointed. The game was close the whole way. An errant whistle by an over zealous ref on a neighboring court (he’s been warned before about his set of pipes) stopped play creating a replayed point Tstreet lost to the crowd’s displeasure. And a fired up Tstreet player was cautioned for her spirited disagreement with a refs call about a touch. There were a couple of stops but the train kept rollin.
The two teams met earlier this year at a friendly pre-season Tstreet-hosted Sunday scrimmage attended by several top division local clubs. End of the line Tstreet 15-Chris took Coast VBC 15-1, this time. With engineers Coaches Chris “Wizard” Whiting and Richelle Whiting at the helm I’m certain Tstreet 15-Chris will arrive in the Open Division at the 2013 USAV Junior National Championships in Dallas, Texas on time.
