There’s a reason no one’s seen standing in the background when someone takes a picture of a championship team. The winner is the last man standing. Everyone else has gone home.
SCVA’s Mandatory 1 finals Saturday at ASC featured two new and improved teams as the last two standing. 5-seed Wave 14-Brennan defeated 7-seed Tstreet 14-Mike 25-17. If Confucius had advice for both teams it was, “Don’t quit when you’re tired. Quit when you’re done.” Everyone’s first mandatory was a long day and Wave’s more persistent, enthusiastic, energetic attack enabled Wave to do a better job taking care of the ball.
New and improved for 2013:
- 2012’s Tstreet 14-Mike took 3rd in last year’s Mandatory 1.
- 2013’s Tstreet 14-Mike took 2nd and has defeated M1 3-seed Rancho Valley 14-Premier and M1 2-seed SG Elite 14-Roshambo.
- 2012’s Wave 14-Ali/Abra finished 10th in SCVA’s Mandatory 1.
- 2013’s Wave 14-Brennan took 1st this year defeating M1 10-seed Tstreet 13-Curtis (who took Tstreet 14-Mike to task in 2013 M1 first round bracket play) and M1 2-seed SG Elite 14-Roshambo.
Both teams finished ahead of last year’s. The future’s so bright I hope neither forgets to wear shades :).
